摘要: In this paper, a small overlap impact finite element model was established according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS) evaluation rating protocol, to study the crashworthiness of a sedan in small overlap impact. Then, according to simulation results, the problems of its structure were summarized, and the crashworthiness rating of the sedan was concluded as poor. The structure optimization was proposed through the structural design and suspension system safety design. The sim ulation results of the modified vehicle show that the intrusion was decreased obviously and the crash worthiness evaluation rating of the sedan was upgraded to acceptable which confirms the effectiveness of the optimization.
