Summary writing

  • Abstract Writing Requirements for the Journal of Chongqing University of Technology (Natural Science)

     

    1. Chinese Abstract

    The abstract should provide a concise summary of research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions, ranging from 200 to 300 words, excluding content that is common knowledge in the field. The guidelines should be followed: do not include information that belongs to the introduction, do not cite from references, do not interpret or comment on the content and do not duplicate information presented in the title, use the third person and avoid using terms like "this paper" or "the authors" as subjects, utilize standardized terminology, provide the original term in parentheses for new or untranslated terms, do not use mathematical formulas and chemical structures unless necessary, do not use illustrations, tables, abbreviations, acronyms or code names, except those clearly understood by the reader. The abstract should be rigorous in structure, concise in expression and precise in semantics.

     

    2. English Abstract

    The English abstract should be a translation of the Chinese abstract, typically around 250-350 words.

    1) Include essential elements such as research objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions (do not use separate headings).

    2) Minimize the use of the first person and passive voice.

    3) Prefer active voice for simplicity and clarity.

    4) Use clear and concise short sentences, avoid overly long sentences. Employ correctly English writing conventions and grammar.

    5) Use the present tense, ensure grammatical correctness and sentence fluency.

    6) Do not use abbreviations unless widely recognized (e.g., DNA); if necessary, provide the full term upon first use.

    7) Do not use any Chinese characters in the English abstract.

    8) Do not start sentences with numbers.


    3.Authors' Names and Affiliations
    1) 
    In the English abstract, authors' names, superscripts, and affiliations should correspond to those in Chinese.

    2) Specific requirements for writing authors' names are as follows:

    ① The surname comes first, followed by the given name.

    ② All letters (pinyin) in Chinese surnames should be capitalized, e.g., "张" should be written as "ZHANG"; only the first letter of the given name should be capitalized, with the rest of the name written in English, e.g., "小明" should be written as "Xiaoming". The Example of English Writing of Chinese name:ZHANG Xiaoming.

    ③ Names of individuals from Western countries or other countries should be arranged according to their customary order, e.g., "Sophie Dupont"; when abbreviating names, the surname should be capitalized and a space should be used between the surname and given name, e.g., "CAEMMERE J H.”

    ④ For multiple authors, they should be separated by commas, e.g., "张小明, 李四" should be written as "ZHANG Xiaoming, LI Si".

    3) Specific requirements for writing authors' affiliations are as follows:

    The order of affiliations should be from small to large + city + postal code + country, e.g., "(College of Computer Science & Engineering, Chongqing University of Technology, Chongqing 400054, China)".

    ② Punctuation requirements: There should be a space between the city and postal code, and commas should separate the other items; different affiliations should be numbered with Arabic numerals "1, 2, 3, ..." to indicate the order of the author's affiliations, separated by semicolons; different departments of the same affiliation should be numbered with lowercase letters "a, b, c, ..." and separated by semicolons, e.g., "(a. Chongqing Municipal Engineering Research Center of Institutions of Higher Education for Special Welding Materials and Technology; b. Chongqing Key Laboratory of Mould Technology, Chongqing University of Technology, Chongqing 400054, China)".


    4. Keywords

    1) Keywords should keep correspondence of Chinese and English

    2) Keywords should be only demonstrated in the form of “Key words” with top-aligned writing and separated by colons with the following content. Do not use “Keywords” “Key Words” “KEYWORDS” “Keyword”.

    3)  Except for proper nouns and names, which should have the first letter capitalized, all other keywords should have the first letter in lowercase, separated by semicolons.
